EdTech Apps for 21st Century Educators

Integrating technology in education provides tremendous potential to empower students’ learning. Through the different devices, hardware and software manufactured and the birth of knowledge-based economy, education has been evolving by utilizing technology as part of the teaching and learning process.

Educators from K-12, Higher Ed, and even post-graduate institutions have been gearing up their skills and competencies in teaching through technology integration in the classroom.

For this school year, I compiled the best apps I use in my classroom and by educators all over the world to promote “GENUINE LEARNING” through 21st Century teaching.

1. Reflector App

Airsquirrels developed an app for every device in every classroom. Reflector is a wireless receiver for mirroring and streaming phones or tablets that help educators go around the classroom while teaching and presenting. No need to worry about wires, adapters, and connectors for different gadgets you have in your classroom. 2. Seesaw

Gamechanger…Awesome…Empowering…Collaborative. These are only a few of the words Seesaw teachers use to describe Seesaw.

Seesaw is a student-driven learning journal that empowers children to share their learning with each other, their teachers, parents and the world. It is a pretty open tool that reflects students’ learning with a wider audience. It has no cost (free forever) and is suitable for students of all ages. It has various tools that give students choice in the way that works best for them. On top of that, it creates a meaningful home-school connection so families can better support their child’s learning.

3. Quizlet

Since 2007, Quizlet has been training students through flashcards and various games and tests. Quizlet is a free online learning tool for students, teachers, and learners of all ages that can be used in and out of the classroom, on your own or with friends, and on the go with iOS and Android apps. Whether you are a teacher or a student, reviewing for an exam or learning a language, Quizlet can be utilized for an engaging, motivating and interactive learning experience.

In Quizlet, you can create your own sets, study others’ sets or customize other Quizlet users’ sets. It is fun and simple.

Technology has never and will never replace instruction. It is created to enhance the learning experience and provide wide arrays of methods towards teaching and learning. It enables to develop the 21st-century skills among students necessary to adapt to the ever-changing and fast-pacing technological society.
