The MXIS Egrets Volleyball Team has been training since January 2018. Presently, there are 18 boy and 12 girl trainees who are regularly training every Wednesday and Friday with their coach, Mr. Mitchel Africa. This year, the Egrets Volleyball Team was invited by AKSIL Shanghai for a volleyball tournament in Hongqiao, Shanghai. The competition comprises of 7 teams with men and women divisions. The AKSIL Youth Volleyball Tournament was held in Shanghai Community International School last June 3, 2018.
The MXIS Egrets Boys’ Team, with their captain, Norman Huang, and co-captain, Carlos Go, ranked second after battling for championship against Shanghai Singapore International School’s Sabres Team. After ranking third during the first round, the MXIS Egrets Girls’ Team, led by their co-captain, Janelle Delfin, ranked fourth after their very crucial game against the Lady Sabres.
In an interview with the Egret’s Captain, Norman Huang, he mentioned how hard the team is working together to the best of their abilities through series of drills to enhance their skills and develop their teamwork. “These drills and practices will really bring out the inner Egret in each and everyone of our players.” he said.
